Belsay Hall and Gardens - English Heritage - - A grand medieval castle, later extended to include a magnificent Jacobean mansion, inspired by the temples of ancient Greece. Unique Quarry Garden with ravines, pinnacles and sheer rock faces, tea room - wheelchair hire, Castle and manor house reached by 700m path through gardens; access to castle or manor house via steps. Cragside House, Gardens and Estate - (National Trust) - Extraordinary Victorian house, gardens and woodland. The first home to be lit by hydroelecticity, extensive arts and crafts collection - over 40 miles of footpaths to explore up hills, around lakes, through woodland - Level access to shop and tea-rooms. Wheelchairs available to borrow in the house and grounds (please book in advance). Adapted toilets at Visitor Centre, House and Crozier car park. Baby changing and feeding facilities -

Seaton Delaval Hall - (National Trust) - The early 18th-century house, one of the best surviving examples of English Baroque, occupies the site of a Norman settlement, and its original Norman chapel remains in use today. Gardens, parkland, woodland play area - Baby changing facilities, Wheelchairs are available for use free of charge - booking advisable, Gravel paths on site can be difficult for wheelchairs - 15 steps into the central hall
